Junior Calvin Ralph (Hillsdale, N.J./Pascack Valley) finished fourth overall to help The University of Scranton men's golf team finish second at the Landmark Conference Fall Invitational on Sunday at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course in Harrisburg, Pa.
The Royals also had a team competing in the Biondi Memorial at Glenmaura National Golf Club in nearby Moosic, which finished sixth at the conclusion of the two-day event.
Landmark Conference Fall Invitational – results
Ralph shot a 6-over-par 78 on the final round of the two-round event to finish with 76-78 – 154, good for fourth place alone. Goucher's Julian Gonzalez took the individual title with a 2-under-par total of 72-70 – 142, winning by eight strokes.
Scranton moved up two spots on the final day to finish second with a two-day score of 313-312 – 625, 12 shots behind Goucher's 311-302 – 613. Drew was two strokes behind the Royals in third with 306-321 – 627 in the eight-team event.
The Royals placed three other golfers in the top 11. Sophomore Thomas McAuliffe (Reiserstown, Md./Loyola-Blakefield) tied for fifth with 77-78 – 156. Senior Erik Ridley (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) tied for seventh with 79-78 – 157, and senior Brett Lubba (Pompton Plains, N.J./Pequannock Township) tied for 11th with 81-78 – 159.
All four Royals in the top 11 shot 78 on Sunday, which was tied for the fifth-best round of the day.
Biondi Memorial – results
Scranton finished sixth in the two-day event with 340-349 – 689 at the par-71 layout at Glenmaura. Franklin & Marshall ran away with the team title with a two-day total of 306-304 – 610 to win by 32 shots.
Senior Kyle Hayes (East Norwich, N.Y./Oyster Bay) was Scranton's top finisher, carding 81-83 – 164 to tie for 14th. Senior Griffin Lubba (Pompton Plains, N.J./Pequannock Township) gave the Royals a second top-20 finish, tying for 20th with 89-82 – 171.
Freshman Nicholas Campanelli (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) finished with 86-88 – 174, and junior Ian Connell (Dedham, Mass./Dedham) finished with 84-100 – 184 to round out the team's top four scores.
The two events over the weekend conclude the men's golf team's fall season. The Royals will return to action during the spring semester.
