MOOSIC, Pa. – The University of Scranton men's golf team posted an overall score of 322 in the opening round of the two-day Glenmaura Collegiate Tournament on Sunday at the Glenmaura National Golf Club to sit in second place after the first day of the competition.
The Royals trail Muhlenberg by two strokes as the Mules posted a 320 on the par 71, 6,308-yard course to lead the six-team field. Moravian is in third place, trailing Scranton by two shots after carding a 324 on Sunday.
Senior Brett Lubba (Pompton Plains, N.J./Pequannock Township) led the Royals in the opening round, carding a six-over 77 to sit in a tie for third place in the 32-golfer field.
Senior Andrew Milisits (Northampton, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) checked in with a 79, tied for sixth in the competition while senior Erik Ridley (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) completed the course in 82 strokes to place 10th.
Junior Calvin Ralph (Hillsdale, N.J./Pascack Valley) is currently tied for 13th overall after posting a score of 84 on Sunday while sophomore Thomas McAuliffe (Reisterstown, Md./Loyola-Blakefield) is in 20th place after logging an 86 in the first round.
Ellis Focht and Ben Lieberman of Muhlenberg are tied for the lead in the competition after both posting scores of 75 on Sunday.
Scranton will wrap up the two-day Glenmaura Collegiate Tournament tomorrow. The action will tee off at 8:30 a.m. in Moosic.
