MOOSIC, Pa. – The University of Scranton men's golf team remained undefeated this season by defeating Marywood and Centenary in a tri-match on Thursday at the Glenmaura National Golf Club.
The Royals (14-0), who had the top four individual finishers in the event, shot a 314 to defeat the Pacers (5-3), who carded a 338, and the Cyclones (1-2), who checked in with a 388 on the par 71, 6,308-yard layout.
Senior Kyle Hayes (East Norwich, N.Y./Oyster Bay) was the individual medalist on the day, topping the field of 14 golfers with a five-over round of 76.
Hayes won the event by three strokes over sophomore Thomas McAuliffe (Reisterstown, Md./Loyola-Blakefield) and senior Andrew Milisits (Northampton, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) who tied for second place with identical scored of 79 on the day.
Senior Erik Ridley (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) tied for fourth after completing the course in 80 strokes while junior Calvin Ralph (Hisdale, N.J./Pascack Valley) finished eighth overall by posting a score of 85.
Scranton will split up for a pair of matches on Monday as a team of Royals will take on King's and Wilkes in a tri-match at Glenmaura starting at 1 p.m. A separate team will compete against Keystone in a dual match at the Stonehedge Golf Course in Tunkhannock, also starting at 1 p.m.
