HARRISBURG, Pa. – The University of Scranton men's golf team sits in fourth place following first round action at the Landmark Conference Championships on Friday at the Dauphin Highlands Golf Course. The Royals totaled a score of 319 on the opening day of the 36-hole tournament, 13 strokes behind first place Goucher.
Goucher leads to the team competition on the par 72, 6,756 yard course by one stroke over Moravian with a first round score of 306. Moravian sit in second place with a 307 while Catholic is third with a 318, on stroke ahead of Scranton.
Senior Erik Ridley (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) led the Royals with a six-over 78 on Friday to end the first day of competition tied for seventh place in the 39-golfer field.
Ridley's 18-hole score was one stroke better than fellow senior Brett Lubba (Pompton Plains, N.J./Pequannock Township), who completed the course in 79 strokes to tie for 10th overall while sophomore Thomas McAuliffe (Reisterstown, Md./Loyola-Blakefield) is tied for 13th in the competition after opening the weekend with a round of 80.
Junior Calvin Ralph (Hillsdale, N.J./Pascack Valley) fired an 82 on Friday to enter Saturday's final round tied for 22nd while senior Andrew Milisits (Northampton, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) is tied for 30th after opening the weekend with a first round total of 84.
Goucher's Julian Gonzalez and Moravian's Nick Kuhn are tied atop the individual leaderboard after the opening round after shooting even-par rounds of 72 on Friday.
Scranton will close out the Landmark Conference Championships tomorrow starting at the Dauphin Highlands Golf Course starting at 10:30 a.m.
