Colin Sommers of Men's Golf Named University of Scranton Athlete of the Week

Junior Colin Sommers (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) of The University of Scranton men's golf team put together the best round of his career on Thursday vs. Marywood, and for his efforts, he was named the Scranton Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sept. 15, 2019, on Monday.

In the match against the Pacers, Sommers fired a 75 in just his third career match, leading Scranton to a slim 314-315 victory at Glenmaura National Golf Club. In the win, Sommers also made a 10-foot par putt on his last hole, clinching the eventual team win for the Royals, who are 3-0 in dual matches on the short season.

Sommers, who opened the season last Tuesday posting an 86 at Glenmaura vs. Misericordia and King's, and the rest of The University of Scranton men's golf team is in action this afternoon at the Moravian Invitational. The tournament, which is being held at Saucon Valley Country Club, tees off at 1 p.m.
