CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Sophomore Nicholas Campanelli (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) put together the best round of his career, carding a 73 (+1) at Saucon Valey Country Club to win the individual title of the 2019 Moravian Invitational on Monday.
As a team, Scranton posted a score of 310 to finish fourth overall. The host Greyhounds were the team champions of the event, posting a score of 301, while Penn State-Berks and Gettysburg finished in a tie for second at 307.
Individually on the day, Campanelli put together a strong back nine to win the individual title on a match of cards with Moravian's Andrew Hozza, who also posted a 73 on the par 72 Saucon Valley layout.
On the back nine, Campanelli posted a 34 (he shot 39, +3, on the front nine) after birding four of the first five holes coming in. Despite bogeying two of his final four holes of the day, Campanelli was able to take individual honors after saving a bogey on the 529-yard par five 18th hole.
Coming into the tournament, Campanelli's previous low career round was a 75 carded last year at Wyoming Valley Country Club vs. King's.
