TUNKHANNOCK, Pa. - Freshman Matthew Fleming (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) carded a one-under-par 70 at Stone Hedge Golf Club on Saturday, as The University of Scranton men's golf team upended Marywood, 300-310, in a dual match.
With the win, Scranton improved to 6-0 on the short season in dual matches.
For Fleming, the score of 70 was the low of the day for any player, as he bested Marywood's Joseph Weber by three shots (73) to take medalist honors. The 70 was also the lowest round carded by any Royal on the Fall campaign to date, as well.
Elsewhere, junior Thomas McAuliffe (Reisterstown, Md./Loyola-Blakefield) posted a 74 (+3) and senior Calvin Ralph (Hillsdale, N.J./Pascack Valley) put together a six-over round of 77 at Stone Hedge. Rounding out the line-up for Scranton was senior Ian Connell (Dedham, Mass./Dedham), who shot a 79 (+8) and sophomore Nicholas Campanelli (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional), who carded an 80 (+9).
The University of Scranton men's golf team returns to action on Monday, as they travel to Irem Temple Country Club in Dallas for a tri-match with Misericordia and King's. Tee-off is set for 1 p.m.
