DALLAS, Pa. - Senior Ian Connell (Dedham, Mass./Dedham) of The University of Scranton men's golf team matched a career-low score with a 77 at Irem Temple Country Club on Monday, as the Royals (325) knocked off both King's (346) and Misericordia (392) in a tri-dual match.
With the pair of victories, Scranton moved to 8-0 overall in dual matches for the year.
On the day, Connell matched a career-low score he set last season in a match last fall vs. Misericordia at Scranton Municipal Golf Club with his 77 (+5). The score was also the lowest of the day by any player to earn Connell medalist honors for the event.
Elsewhere for Scranton, freshman Matthew Fleming (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) continued his strong play with an 82 (+10), while both senior Tucker DiPiazza (Birdsboro, Pa./Berks Catholic) and freshman Coilin Ennis (Pleasant Mount, Pa./Scranton Prep) shot a pair of 83's. Ennis' start in the event marked the first time in his collegiate career that he played in a match, as well.
Rounding out the scores for Scranton was senior Patrick Budicini (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield), who carded an 87 on the afternoon.
The University of Scranton men's golf team returns to action on Thursday, as they take on King's again, this time at Wyoming Valley Country Club in Hanover. Tee-off is set for 1 p.m.
