Ralph, Stein Nab Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week Accolades for Golf

Senior's Calvin Ralph (Hillsdale, N.J./Pasack Valley) and Brianna Stein (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) of The University of Scranton men's and women's golf teams were named Landmark Conference Athletes of the Week in their respective sports on Monday, joining seven other male and female senior golfers from across the conference in earning the award.

With the unprecedented cancellation of spring sports due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Landmark Conference will be recognizing an athlete from each member institution in each conference-sponsored spring sport for the remainder of the academic year. All honorees were nominated by their respective institutions.

For Ralph, this marks the second time in his career at Scranton that he has earned Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week honors, last earning the award on Oct. 1, 2018. Stein, meanwhile, finishes her career nabbing the Athlete of the Week award on three separate occasions, previously winning it on Sept. 15, 2018, and Sept. 9, 2019.

After playing in just three events in his first two seasons in the program, Ralph earned a spot in the starting line-up for the men's golf team over the last two seasons, playing in 20 events in his junior and senior seasons.

During his junior season, Ralph ran off a streak of four straight first-place finishes during the fall, which included his career-low round on Sept. 20, 2018, at Glenmaura Country Club, a 71. Ralph his junior year with an average score of 79.07, as he finished 22nd at the 2019 Landmark Conference Championship.

In the Fall of 2019, Ralph ended with a scoring average of 78.8 in eight events, firing his lowest round (72) after earning medalist honors vs. Marywood/King's on Sept. 26. He ends his Scranton career with a 79.06 scoring average in 27 total rounds and will earn a degree in History from The University of Scranton.

Stein, meanwhile, will end her time as a Royal becoming the first four-year letterwinner in women's golf program history, as her freshman season coincided with the inaugural season of women's golf at Scranton.

Overall, Stein posted a career scoring average of 95.2 in 38 career events over four seasons. She also carded her lowest round - an 83 - on three separate occasions throughout her career, firing the mark twice during the Fall 2019 season, and helped Scranton win 29 matches over her four-year career At the first Landmark Conference Championship in 2018, Stein earned All-Landmark Conference Second Team honors after registering the highest place on the team, a tie for ninth.

Stein will earn a degree from Scranton in Operations Management & Philosophy next month.
