Junior attackman Matt Carfaro (Long Valley, N.J./West Essex) of The University of Scranton men's lacrosse team has been named the University's Athlete of the Week after scoring four goals in last week's win over King's.
Carfaro tallied his career high for goals in a game while helping Scranton (2-2) defeat King's, 10-4, on Wednesday, March 8, at Fitzpatrick Field. He scored in the first quarter to help the Royals take a 2-0 lead, then scored three times in the second half as the Royals turned a three-goal lead into a runaway victory.
Carfaro finished with eight shots, tying for the team lead, and six of them were on goal. He also had two ground balls and a caused turnover in the victory.
On the season, Carfaro has eight goals and four assists for 12 points. This is the first Athlete of the Week honor of his career.
