Junior attackman Quinn Killeen (Berkeley Heights, N.J./New Providence) of The University of Scranton men's lacrosse team enjoyed a strong start to the season, racking up 11 points to lead the Royals to a pair of wins over the weekend. For his performance, he has been named the Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week.
Killeen scored eight goals and dished out three assists as Scranton defeated Marywood and King's to jump out to a 2-0 start to the season.
In Scranton's 18-9 victory at Marywood in Saturday's season-opener, Killeen totaled a game-high seven points by scoring five goals while adding two assists. He netted four of the Royals' first eight goals as Scranton jumped out to an 11-3 halftime advantage against the Pacers and also finished the contest with four ground balls.
In Sunday's home opener against King's, Killeen scored three goals and added an assist the Scranton rolled to a 16-6 victory over the Monarchs in their first-ever game on Weiss Field. After setting up a second quarter goal, Killeen recorded his hat trick with three tallies in the second half as the Royals pulled away while again scooping up four ground balls in the contest.
For his career, Killeen now has 51 points on 30 goals and 21 assists. He is already more than halfway to matching his season-high for goals after totaling 15 last spring.
Killeen and the Royals are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday with a non-conference game against DeSales starting at 4 p.m. at Weiss Field in Scranton.
