The University of Scranton men's lacrosse team locked up a Landmark Conference playoff bid last week with a pair of wins over conference opponents, led by junior attack Quinn Killeen (Berkeley Heights, N.J./New Providence) and sophomore goalkeeper Shayne Fallon (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford).
Both players were honored by the Landmark Conference on Monday as Killeen was selected as the Offensive Athlete of the Week while Fallon was named the Defensive Athlete of the Week.
Killeen, who has now been named the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week twice this spring, totaled nine points on seven goals and two assists to go along with five groundballs and one caused turnover in Scranton's two victories. In a 14-5 victory over Drew on Wednesday, Killeen scored four goals and dished out an assist. He followed that performance up with a three-goal, one-assist effort in an 11-7 win at Catholic on Saturday.
For the season, Killeen has totaled 43 points, scoring 28 goals and dishing out five assists. He has also contributed 28 groundballs and four caused turnovers.
Fallon made 22 saves and held Scranton's opponents to 6.0 goals against as the Royals clinched their ninth straight postseason bid. He made 11 saves in a 14-5 win over Drew on Wednesday before turning aside 11 more shots while holding Catholic to just one second half goal on Saturday as the Royals posted an 11-7 victory on the road over the Cardinals. He finished the week with a 64.7 save percentage with 22 saves on 34 shots faced.
Fallon has made 13 appearances in Scranton's cage this spring including 11 starts, posting a 52.7 save percentage with 126 stops on the year. He has a 7-4 record with a 10.68 goals against average.
Scranton (9-6, 4-0 Landmark) can clinch the top seed and home field advantage throughout the Landmark Conference playoffs on Thursday when it hosts Elizabethtown in a conference matchup starting at 7 p.m. at Weiss Field.
