Junior defender Matthew Busch (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah) of the University of Scranton men's soccer team was honored for his work in the classroom on Thursday afternoon, as he was named to the 2015 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) All-District Team.
For Busch, this marks the second time in his three year career that he has earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team after collecting the honor in 2014. Busch was named to the District Four Division III First Team, as the District is comprised of NCAA Division III Institutions throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
This season, Busch has started in all 15 matches for the season on the Royal backline, helping Scranton clinch a bid to next week's Landmark Conference Tournament as the number two seed.
In all, Busch has been a part of a Royal defensive unit that has allowed just 13 goals on the season, while holding six opponents scoreless. Busch also recorded the first assist of his career during the course of this season, as well.
Busch was eligible for a spot on the Academic All-District Team by posting a 3.93 GPA as a Neuroscience/Mathematics major at the University.
The University of Scranton men's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, traveling to Elizabethtown for their final Landmark Conference match of the 2015 regular season. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
