Senior Henry Bonilla (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennington School) scored both goals for the University of Scranton men's soccer team on Saturday night at Moravian, lifting the Royals to a 2-1 win in their Landmark Conference season opener.
For his efforts in the contest, Bonilla was named the Landmark's Men's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week on Monday, marking the first time in his career that he has won the award.
In the Moravian win, Bonilla's first goal came in the 25th minute, giving Scranton an early 1-0 edge. After a Moravian goal late in the first half tied it up at 1-1, Bonilla cashed in on another chance in the 60th minute on a goal that proved to be the game-winner for the Royals.
For Bonilla, it was his fourth goal of the 2016 season, which is the highest mark on the squad. He also now has three game-winning goals for the year, bumping his career total in that category up to eight.
Bonilla and the rest of the University of Scranton men's soccer team returns to the pitch on Wednesday, traveling to Wilkes for a non-conference match. Things get underway at 7 p.m.
