However, one of the shots that Scranton took went into the back of the net, as freshman Jonathan Roberts (Whitehouse Station, N,J./Immaculata-Somerville) scored his third goal of the year in the 31st minute to give the Royals a 1-0 lead. Roberts played a cross in the box from junior Gavin Coutts (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham), who recorded his third assist of the year on the play.

After Goucher got their lone goal of the contest on a penalty kick in the 49th minute, senior Michael Newell (Worcester, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) scored his third goal of the season to put Scranton up for for good in the 74th minute.

The goal was set up by junior Connor Casey (Hatfield, Pa./LaSalle College H.S.), who stole a pass from midfield and drove all the way to the net before dishing the ball back to Newell, who buried a shot.

The final two goals of the match, ironically, were scored by members of the Royals senior class.
