Bill McGuiness

Bill McGuiness (2010-13) led the University of Scranton men's soccer team's offense throughout his career, eventually earning All-American honors twice for his play on the pitch for the Royals.

McGuiness can now add another accomplishment to the list, as he was named to the Landmark Conference's All-Decade Team for Men's Soccer, which was announced this morning by the conference as the Landmark continues to celebrate its 10th Anniversary throughout the 2016-17 academic year.

The criteria to make the Landmark's All-Decade Team was as follows: Athletes that were named All-Conference First Team a minimum of two times, and/or were named Landmark Player of the Year, during their career will be nominated automatically, and each team had the opportunity to nominate additional individuals for consideration. The All-Decade team was selected by the membership.

McGuiness finished his career at Scranton scoring 23 goals and adding 15 assists for 61 career points, after starting 60 matches in the midfield for the Royals.

In 2012, McGuiness scored 12 goals and finished with seven assists, leading the Royals to eventual berth in the Elite Eight of the 2012 NCAA Tournament after Scranton finished the year with a 17-3-2 overall mark. For his efforts, McGuiness was the 2012 Landmark Conference Player of the Year, as well.

McGuiness ended his career at Scranton as one of the program's most decorated players, earning several awards for not only his play, but his work in the classroom, as well.

A four-time All-Landmark Conference selection, earning First-Team honors three times, McGuiness was a two-time NSCAA Second Team All-America ('12, '13), and a selection to the D3Soccer.com All-American Team in 2012.

But off the field, McGuniess was just as accomplished of a scholar, earning CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American Honors two years in a row (2012 and 2013).

McGuniess was also a four-year selection to the Landmark Conference's Academic Honor Roll, the conference's Senior Scholar Athlete in 2012, and was an NSCAA First Team Scholar All-American in 2012, as well.
