KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the second consecutive year, senior Jon Roberts (Whitehouse Station, N.J./Immaculata-Somerville) of The University of Scranton men's soccer team has been named to the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Scholar All-East Region Second Team as announced by the organization on Monday afternoon.
Roberts was a Second Team honoree this fall after earning Third Team accolades in 2018.
The Whitehouse Station, N.J., native also earned USC All-Region Second Team honors and was an All-Landmark Conference Second Team selection after leading the Royals in goals (7) and points (16).
Roberts scored a pair of goals in a 4-0 win over Marywood on Sept. 4 and tallied the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Misericordia on Sept. 10. The senior added a goal and an assist in a Landmark Conference victory at Goucher on Oct. 5 and scored key goals in other conference wins over Drew and Juniata.
Scranton went 11-5-2 overall (6-1 Landmark) on the year and went unbeaten in their final six matches of the regular season to clinch the No. 2 seed in the Landmark Conference tournament.
Roberts finished his career in a Royals uniform with 48 points on 16 goals and 16 assists in 68 career games (64 starts).
The senior boasts an impressive 3.64 GPA as a Marketing major and was also named to the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll for the third straight year.
