SCRANTON, Pa.—Senior Mike Ambrose (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) won the 100 (1:00.46) and 200 breaststroke (2:17.57) and junior Grant Owens (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) swept the 50 (:22.17) and 100 free (:48.77), but it wasn’t enough to keep The University of Scranton men’s swimming & diving team from dropping its fifth straight meet, 159-132, to Marywood University Saturday afternoon at the Pacer Aquatics Center.
Ambrose and Owens also swam legs on the first-place finishing 200 medley relay that covered the distance in 1:40.40. Joining them were freshman Joseph Vannucci (Swarthmore, Pa./Ridley) and senior Matt Flint (West Caldwell, NJ/Montclair Kimberly Academy).
Vannucci and Flint also picked up first-place honors today. Vannucci won the 200 individual medley (2:05.49) while Flint finished first in the 100 fly (2:05.49).
The Royals, now 2-5 on the season, also received runner-up finishes from Vannucci in the 100 (:56.51) and 200 backstroke (2:05.29), freshman Colin Fitzgerald (Budd Lake, NJ/Mount Olive) in the 100 (1:04.35) and 200 breaststroke (2:21.88) and the 200 individual medley (2:05.57), and senior Steven Stora (Staten Island, NY/Monsignor Farrell) in the 1-meter diving (154.15 points).

The Royals will return to action on Saturday, December 6, against Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
