Sophomore Timothy Quigley (Hatboro, Pa./Archbishop Wood) of The University of Scranton men's swimming & diving team had an impressive showing at the Landmark Conference Championships, winning two gold medals with a pair of individual school records while also swimming on a pair of relay teams that also broke program records. For his performance, he has been named The University of Scranton Athlete of the Week.
Quigley had a big day on Saturday, earning gold medals in the 100 butterfly and in the 100 breaststroke. The sophomore set school records in both first place performances, clocking a 50.90 in the 100 butterfly and a 57.14 in the 100 breaststroke, toppling Scranton records that stood since 2012 and 2014, respectively.
Quigley also helped the Royals post two more program records in relay events. In the 200 medley relay, Quigley was part of a squad that finishing second with a mark of 1:34.92 to best the previous record set in 2015. He also swam on the 400 medley relay team that earned a silver medal with a Scranton-best mark of 3:28.39.
Quigley's efforts help the Royals finish in third place out of seven teams at this year's Landmark Conference Championships
