SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The University of Scranton men's swimming & diving team fell in a dual meet at Susquehanna on Saturday, as the host Riverhawks took the meet by a score of 165-110.
With the defeat, the Royals dropped to 6-4 overall on the year in dual meets.
To start the day off, Scranton got off to a good start, as the Royals' 200-medley relay squad took the event with a time of 1:38.24. On the team for the Royals was senior Michael Ramsthaler (Florham Park, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) junior Timothy Quigley (Hatboro, Pa./Archbishop Wood), and sophomores Jack Donnelly (Washington Crossing, Pa./Council Rock North) and Matt Mills (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township).
In individual events, Donnelly went on to win an event, taking the 100-breaststroke with a time of 59.21, while sophomore John Fimmano (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug) captured the 200-butterfly by almost three seconds with a time of 2:01.40.
Both swimmers would go on to become two-time winners later in the meet, as Donnelly won the 200-breaststroke in 2:13.68 and Fimmano took the 100-butterfly after hitting the wall in 54.10.
The final top individual on the day for Scranton was junior diver Michael Diana (Somerset, N.J./Immaculata-Somerville), who won both the one-meter dive with a final score of 363.30.
The University of Scranton men's swimming & diving team is now not scheduled to return to action until the 2019 Landmark Conference Championships, which will be held in Germantown, Md. Feb. 15-17. Any updates to the Royals' schedule will be made available by clicking here.
