WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of Scranton men's swimming team (1-1) had three individual event winners on the afternoon, but fell short to the Catholic Cardinals (1-1) by a score of 187-101 on Saturday afternoon in Washington, D.C.
Junior Matt Mills (Sewell, N.J./Washing Township) won the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:02.24 and captured the 200 IM in a time of 2:05.44, while classmate Jack Donnelly (Washington Crossing, Pa./Council Rock North took home the 100 breaststroke for the Royals with a time of 1:01.20. Freshman Kyle Kovalenko (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perikomen) added a victory in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:18.82.
Quigley finished second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:02.57, while junior John Cannilla (Florham Park, N.J./Oratory Prep) finished second in the 200 freestyle (1:50.89) and 500 freestyle (5:07.09). Sophomore Evan Morgan (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) added a second place finish in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 10:47.50 and the 200 free relay team consisting of Fimmano, senior Gregory Spicka (Morris Plains, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) , Morgan and freshman Michael Krumenacker (Ambler, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) finished second in 1:31.29.
Scranton returns to the pool with a dual meet at King's on Friday, Nov. 1 beginning at 6 p.m.
