WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The trio of junior John Fimmano (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug), junior Matt Mills (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township) and sophomore Evan Morgan (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) each won two events apiece as The University of Scranton men's swimming and diving team (2-1) recorded a 139-64 victory over the King's Monarchs (1-2) on Friday night at Scandlon Pool in Wilkes-Barre.
Fimmano captured the 50 freestyle in a time of 22.67 and the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:09.21, while Mills won the 100 freestyle as he touched the wall in a time of 49.61 and the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:15.30. Morgan registered a victory in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 10:42.50 and took home the 500 freestyle in a time of 5:12.06.
Other winners for the Royals included freshman Kyle Kovalenko (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) who won the 200 IM in 2:06.60 along with a pair of relay victories. The quartet of Mills, Kovalenko, senior Timothy Quigley (Hatboro, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and freshman Chris DiLillo (Port Washington, N.Y./Paul D. Schreiber) captured the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:42.47, while freshman Michael Krumenacker (Ambler, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep), junior John Cannilla (Florham Park, N.J./Oratory Prep), DiLillo and Morgan won the 400 free relay with a time of 3:28.26.
Kovalenko added a second place finish in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:15.21, while Cannilla finished second in the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:53.86. Quigley placed second in the 200 IM in a time of 2:09.27, Krumenacker finished second in the 100 free with a time of 51.55 and senior Gregory Spicka (Morris Plains, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) took second in the 200 backstroke in 2:13.09.
The Royals kick off the home portion of their 2019-20 schedule with a tri-meet versus Goucher and Juniata on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
