SCRANTON, Pa. – Junior Jack Donnelly (Washington Crossing, Pa./Council Rock North) and senior Timothy Quigley (Hatboro, Pa./Archbishop Wood) both captured individual events, but The University of Scranton men's swimming and diving team (4-2) fell to the Dickinson Red Devils (3-1) by a score of 119-86 in dual meet action on Saturday afternoon at the Byron Center in Scranton.
Donnelly won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 59.12, while Quigley touched the wall in 54.60 seconds to win the 100 butterfly, just ahead of Dickinson's John Crafa who finished in 54.86. The Royals added a victory in the 200 medley relay as the quartet of junior Matt Mills (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township), Donnelly, Quigley and junior John Fimmano (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug) cruised home in a time of 1:37.97.
Fimmano and Mills both added a pair of second place finishes on the afternoon for Scranton as Fimmano took second in the 100 free (49.69) and 200 free (1:50.50), while Mills took second in the 200 IM (2:01.94) and 100 backstroke (55.75). Donnelly added a second place finish for the Royals in the 50 free with a time of 22.55 and the relay quartet of freshman Michael Krumenacker (Ambler, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep), sophomore Evan Morgan (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough), freshman Christopher DiLillo (Port Washington, N.Y./Paul D. Schreiber) and junior John Cannilla (Florham Park, N.J./Oratory Prep) finished second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:31.55.
The Royals return to the pool with a dual meet versus Misericordia on Saturday, Nov. 16 in the Byron Center at 1 p.m.
