Men’s Tennis Collects Four All-Landmark Conference Honors

The University of Scranton men's tennis team collected four All-Conference awards on Thursday as the Landmark Conference released its year-end awards. Tarquin McGurrin (Clarks Summit, Pa./Scranton Prep) and Keller McGurrin (Clarks Summit, Pa./Scranton Prep) led the Royals by earning All-Conference in both singles and doubles play.

The McGurrin brothers earned First Team All-Conference as a doubles team, Targuin was tabbed First Team All-Conference in singles, and Keller captured Second Team All-Conference accolades in singles.

Alexander Ochalski (Hopewell, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) and Brian Harkins (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) garnered Second All-Conference doubles honors.

Tarquin McGurrin was honored as a First Team All-Conference selection after a strong rookie season for the Royals.  The freshman went 11-6 in singles play including a 4-2 mark in Landmark Conference matches.  McGurrin posted a 6-3 record at #1 singles and was 5-3 at #2 singles.

Keller McGurrin capped an outstanding four-year career with his fifth and sixth career All-Conference awards.  The senior posted a 6-8 overall record in singles competition this season including a 3-2 mark in Landmark Conference play.  McGurrin was 4-2 at #2 singles while adding a pair of victories at #1 singles.

The McGurrin brothers also earned First Team All-Conference honors in doubles after posting a 9-6 record together at #1 doubles.  The McGurrin's went 5-1 in doubles contests against Landmark Conference opponents this spring.

Ochalski and Harkins collected Second Team All-Conference laurels in doubles after partnering up to post an 11-3 overall record while playing at the #2 flight.  The duo went a perfect 6-0 at #2 doubles in Landmark Conference matches.

The award was the fourth overall postseason honor for Ochalski, who was a First Team All-Conference honoree in both single sand doubles last season after claiming Second Team All-Conference in doubles as a freshman.

Harkins captured the second of his career after being a Second Team All-Conference singles selection last spring.   

Scranton went 13-4 this season including a 6-1 mark in Landmark Conference matches.  The Royals finished as the Landmark Conference runner-up after falling to Goucher in the Landmark Conference championship match, 5-2.
