ORLANDO, Fla. - The University of Scranton men's tennis team kicked off their 2019 spring break trip on Saturday in Orlando, and faced stiff competition to start off action, as they took on 14th-ranked Case Western Reserve at the USTA National Campus.
In the match, Case Western Reserve knocked off the Royals by a score of 9-0. With the loss, Scranton dropped to 3-1 on the year in dual matches.
To start the match Saturday, Case Western Reserve swept double action, taking matches in the second and third spots of the line-up by scores of 8-1, while collecting an 8-3 win at number one doubles. It was more of the same in singles, as the the Spartans won each of the six matches contested in straight sets.
The Royals, who will play a total of four times this week in Orlando, play their second match on Sunday morning, as they take on Roosevelt beginning at 7:30 a.m.
