Men’s Tennis Falls at Goucher in Landmark Conference Match-Up, 7-2

TOWSON, Md. - In a rematch of the 2018 Landmark Conference Championship Match, host Goucher once again got the best of The University of Scranton men's tennis team on Sunday, as the host Gophers collected a 7-2 win.

With the defeat, the Royals fell to 5-5 overall for the year and 1-1 in the Landmark Conference.

On the day, the host Gophers got off to a good start in doubles action, as they swept three matches over the Royals to take a 3-0 lead into singles play.

There, two Scranton players were able to collect victories to keep the Royals alive. Senior Alexander Ochalski (Hopewell, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) was a straight set winner in the second flight of singles (6-3, 6-1), and fellow senior Brian Harkins (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) posted a 6-2, 6-2 win in the fourth spot of the singles line-up.

But, Goucher won matches in every other position in the line-up to collect the 7-2 win, clinching the match with a three-set victory in the third singles flight.

The University of Scranton men's tennis team returns to action on Wednesday, as they host Drew at Royal Courts in a Landmark Conference home match. First serve is set for 3:30 p.m.
