McGurrin Named Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week

Junior Tarquin McGurrin (Clarks Summit, Pa./Scranton Prep) of The University of Scranton men's tennis team has been named Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

This marks the third time in his career that he has received Landmark Athlete of the Week honors after doing so twice last year.

McGurrin captured the No. 1 singles flight title at the King's Fall Invitational over the weekend with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Juan Huertas of Manhattanville in the finals. The Clarks Summit, Pa., native registered a straight set (6-2, 6-1) win over Misericordia's Zack Hemond in the opening round and a 7-6, 6-1 win over Danny Lynn of DeSales in the semifinal match.

This was also the second consecutive year that McGurrin won the No. 1 singles flight at the King's Fall Invitational.

The Royals return to the courts with a dual match at Lebanon Valley on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 4 p.m.
