Following a Landmark Conference runner-up finish a year ago, The University of Scranton men's tennis team was picked to finish fourth in the preseason poll that was released by the conference office on Wednesday morning.
Four-time defending champion Goucher received seven of the eight first place votes and topped the poll with 70 points, while Drew received the remaining first place vote and received 44 points along with Juniata. The Royals garnered 42 points and rounded out the top four of the poll.
Catholic placed fifth with 28 points and the rest of the poll went as follows: Susquehanna (22 points), Moravian (14 points) and Elizabethtown (8 points).
Junior Tarquin McGurrin (Clarks Summit, Pa./Scranton Prep) highlights the returnees for the Royals after earning All-Landmark Conference First Team honors in both singles and doubles play a year ago. McGurrin went 6-2 in matches this fall and will lead the way for Scranton's lineup this spring.
Freshman Nathan Tauber (Bethlehem, Pa./Nazareth Area) posted a 5-3 mark in fall action for the Royals and will look to contribute as well.
Scranton opens the season against Stevenson on Sunday, Mar. 15 in Orlando, Fla., as part of the team's annual spring break trip. Landmark Conference play begins the weekend of Saturday, Mar. 28 and Sunday, Mar. 29 as the Royals host Catholic and Goucher.
