BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The University of Scranton men's track & field team continued to makes stride in the spring season on Saturday at the Coach P Invitational hosted by Moravian. The Royals posted eight top-20 results in the highly competitive meet held at the Greyhounds' Timothy Breidegam Track and Rocco Calvo Field.
Sophomore Matt Kinback (Factoryville, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) enjoyed another outstanding performance in the 800 meter run, finishing second with a time of 1:54.48.
A pair of Royals finished in the top-15 of the 5,000 meter run led by junior Zachary Gutekunst (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham), who placed 10th after clocking in at 15:55.78. Sophomore Jack Patwell (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia) followed in 14th place in the race with a mark of 16:16.20.
Freshman Phil Cocco (Hughestown, Pa./Pittston Area) brought home an 11th place result in the shot put with toss of 12.90 meters.
In the 10,000 meter run, junior Aidan Helie (Randallstown, Md./Calvert Hall College H.S.) placed 11th with a time of 36:32.70 while senior D.J. Guelph (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) was 13th in the race.
Freshman Ian Lewis (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) finished 19th in the 200 meter dash, crossing the line in 23.12 seconds.
The Royals brought home a ninth place finish in the 4x100 meter relay by posting a time of 44.31 seconds and were 17th in the 4x400 meter relay with a mark of 3:33.11.
Scranton will return to action on Saturday, April 27 at the Monarch Open hosted by King's College starting at 9:30 a.m. in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
