After batting over .500 for the week in leading The University of Scranton softball team to a 5-1 record in six games, freshman Heather Alich (Bath, Pa./Northampton Area) was named the Landmark Conference's Player of the Week on Monday for the period ending March 31, 2019.
On the week, Alich was dominant at the plate, going 10-of-18 in six games, with a triple, 12 RBI and four runs scored. She had multiple hits in five of the six games the Royals played in on the week, posting multiple RBI in four contests.
Alich's best game of the week came on Monday in game one of a doubleheader against Cedar Crest, as she finished the contest going 2-for-3 with four RBI and a run scored. She was also 2-for-4 with three RBI in the second game of a doubleheader at Keystone on Wednesday, then finished off the week going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a triple in the nightcap against Catholic on Saturday.
For the season, Alich is batting .370 in 19 games, with 21 RBI. She's also scored nine runs and posted three doubles, a triple and a home run in the first games of her career at Scranton.
Alich and the rest of The University of Scranton softball team returns to action on Monday, as they kick-off a busy week of games with a non-conference doubleheader at King's. First pitch for game one is set for 3 p.m.
