Junior outfielder Megan Zinn (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) of The University of Scranton softball team is enjoying a record-breaking season on the field while continuing to excel in the classroom this spring. As a result, she has been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District® Softball Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), for the second year in a row.

A First Team honoree for the second time in as many years, Zinn becomes just the second Scranton softball player to earn multiple CoSIDA Academic All-District Team honors, joining Shannon Stricker, who was a First Team pick in 2016 and 2017.

Zinn was honored for the District 4 region which includes Division III program throughout Pennsylvania. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees to be announced in June.

A First Team All-Landmark Conference selection this season, Zinn is batting .473 this spring with 71 hits including 21 doubles, one triple, and one home run. She has also scored 51 runs while racking up 43 RBI while walking 11 times and going 10-for-11 in stolen base attempts.  Zinn, who has struck out just five times in 161 plate appearances on the year, sports a .500 on-base percentage and a .647 slugging percentage.

Zinn, who has smashed both the Landmark Conference and Scranton single-season hits record, has also set a program record for doubles in a season while ranking third in all of NCAA Division III in that category.   She also ranks fifth in the country in hits, 31st in runs per game, and 32nd in RBIs.

Defensively, Zinn holds a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with 63 putouts and one outfield assists.

An early childhood and primary education major, Zinn boast a stellar, 3.96 cumulative grade point average to standout in the classroom as well as on the diamond.

Zinn and the Royals, who won their first-ever Landmark Conference championships last weekend take a 32-13 overall record into a matchup at No. 1 Virginia Wesleyan in the first round of the NCAA Regional Tournament today.  First pitch between the Royals and the two-time defending national champion Marlins is set for 4:30 p.m. in Virginia Beach, Va.
