University of Scranton junior outfielder Megan Zinn (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-Atlantic Region First Team, while sophomore Jennifer Sweeney (Wind Gap, Pa./Dumont) was named to the Third Team, as the Royals softball program garnered two selections on the All-Region Teams, which were announced Wednesday afternoon.

For Zinn, this marks the first time in her career that she has earned All-Region accolades from the NFCA, joining Sweeney as the only First Team All-Region selections in program history. Sweeney, meanwhile, becomes the first Royals player in program history to earn All-Region honors twice.

The pair led the Royals to a historic 2019 season, as Scranton finished with a 32-17 record, won the Landmark Conference for the first time in program history and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time since 1983.

In 2019, Zinn put together a record-breaking season to earn First Team All-Region honors.

Breaking both the Landmark Conference and Scranton program record for hits with 72, Zinn ended the Spring batting .459, while also breaking the school record for doubles in a season with 21. Scoring 51 runs and recording 43 RBI, Zinn ended the season ranked fourth nationally in hits and doubles, while posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, as well.

Overall, Zinn recorded a hit 45 of 50 games on the year and at one point during the year was riding a 20-game hitting streak. In 157 at-bats, Zinn struck out just five times, posting a .485 on-base percentage and a .624 slugging percentage throughout the season.

Sweeney, meanwhile, picked up where she left off in 2018 this season, contributing at both the plate and in the pitching circle.

At the plate, Sweeney led the Landmark Conference in RBI with 46, while smacking 11 doubles and eight home runs. With 52 total hits, Sweeney also scored 31 runs on the season, the second straight campaign in which she has hit that number.

In the pitching circle, Sweeney went 14-8, leading the Landmark in both complete games (19) and strikeouts (111). With a 2.79 ERA, Sweeney struck out almost five batters per seven innings on the year (4.91) on the year, as well.
