For the second consecutive year, senior Megan Zinn (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) of The University of Scranton softball team was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Division III First Team on Tuesday afternoon, becoming the first student-athlete in softball program history to earn the honor twice in a career.
Zinn, who is the 38th CoSIDA Academic All-American in Scranton athletics history, becomes just the fifth student-athlete in program history to earn First Team Academic All-American honors twice in a career. She is also the 11th student-athlete to earn Academic All-American accolades on two separate occasions in a career all-time, as well.
Zinn, who is the first three-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection in the history of the softball program, boasted a 3.93 GPA as an Early Childhood & Primary Education major at the University and plans to return next season for Royals.
She entered the 2020 season needing just 23 hits to break the program's all-time career before the Royals' season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A 2019 NFCA Third Team All-American selection, Zinn is a career .405 hitter with a .528 slugging percentage and a .441 on-base percentage. She ranks among Scranton's all-time leaders in runs scored (2nd), hits (3rd), doubles (3rd), batting average (4th), total bases (4th) at-bats (5th), on-base percentage (9th) and RBI (10th).
A leader on Scranton's 2019 Landmark Conference championship team, Zinn has been an All-Landmark Conference First Team selection twice (2017, 2019) and a Second Team pick once (2018). An NFCA All-Region selection last year, Zinn has also been named to the Landmark's Spring Academic Honor Roll three times throughout her career.
