Freshman guard Bridgette Mann (Canadensis, Pa./Wallenpaupack) recorded back-to-back double-digit scoring games last week, helping the fourth-ranked University of Scranton women's basketball team finish off an unbeaten regular season with a pair of dominating victories on the road.
For her efforts, she has been named the University of Scranton's Athlete of the Week for the period ending February 21.
Mann opened the week with a 10 point effort at Merchant Marine on Wednesday, helping the Lady Royals take a 56-42 victory on the road in a game that they never trailed in.
In their regular season finale on Saturday at Catholic, the Lady Royals emphatically finished off their unbeaten regular season in a dominating 84-59 victory that saw Mann lead four double-digit scorers with a 20 points. It marked the second time on the year that she scored at least 20 points against Catholic, as the freshman scored 21 points in their first match-up of the season on Jan. 16.
For the season, Mann is averaging 10.7 points per game, along with 3.4 assists per contest. She has started in all 25 games for the Lady Royals in her first year in the program, helping the team record the best start to a season in program history at 25-0 and just the second unbeaten regular year in program history, as well.
Mann and the rest of the Lady Royals will host the semifinals of the 2016 Landmark Conference Playoffs on Wednesday night, as top-seeded Scranton takes on the fourth-seed Susquehanna inside the John Long Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
