Scranton to Host Third Round/Quarterfinals of NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament

SCRANTON, PA. - The University of Scranton has been selected to host the Third Round and Quarterfinals of the 2016 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament, with games set to be played on Friday and Saturday inside the John Long Center. Game times have yet to be determined.

On Friday, the Third Round of the Tournament will be played, as Albright and Tufts will play in one match-up and host Scranton will entertain Christopher Newport in the other.

Winners of both games will then face-off on Saturday in the Quarterfinals with a spot in the Final Four on the line in the contest.

The Lady Royals, a perfect 29-0 on the year, punched their ticket the Sweet 16 with victories over WPI (67-42) and Marymount (60-49) in the First and Second Round this past weekend. Their opponent in the Third Round, Christopher Newport, is 24-4 on the year and knocked off St. Joseph's (ME) (65-47) and host Mulhenberg (65-42) to get to the Third Round.

In the other match-up, Albright (27-2) was victorious on the road over the weekend as well, knocking off Husson (76-46) and host Montclair St. (69-66 in OT) to advance. Tufts (25-3) traveled to the University of New England and bested Regis (61-49) and Landmark Conference member Moravian (65-45) to move on in the Tournament.
