The standard of excellence that the University of Scranton women's basketball program has sustained over 42 seasons is staggering.
In all, the Lady Royals have won 1,001 total games, appearing in the NCAA Division III Tournament a record 30 times. A Final Four participant nine times overall, Scranton also has a National Championship in their trophy case, taking the title in 1985.
The Lady Royals have kept up a high level of winning in the time frame since the D3Hoops.com Top 25 Poll began at the start of the 1999-2000 season, so much so that Scranton has appeared in the poll 188 times, the fourth highest mark in all of NCAA Division III.
Leading the way for most appearances in the Top 25 poll is Washington (Mo.), who has appeared in the rankings 249 times, followed by Hope at 243 appearances. Depauw is just ahead of Scranton in the most appearances rankings, coming in third at 214.
Since 1999-2000, Scranton has been ranked number one twice, both of which came in the 2006-07 season. This past year, the Lady Royals were ranked in the D3Hoops.com Top 25 Poll each week it was released, climbing to as high as number three in the ranking, which they held onto for six weeks from Dec. 5, 2016 to Jan. 16, 2017.
