Sophomore forward Makenzie Mason (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) had the best game of her young career last week while helping The University of Scranton women's basketball team knock off cross-town rival Marywood. As a result, she has been named The University of Scranton Athlete of the Week.
Mason finished with a career-high 18 points as the Lady Royals defeated Marywood, 76-53, in the team's home opener on Tuesday, Nov. 21. She was a perfect 7-for-7 from the field, including a 3-pointer, and added six rebounds, a career-high five assists, two steals and a block. She also made her first career start in the victory.
In three games so far this season, Mason is averaging 10.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game.
The Lady Royals are back in action on Monday night when they host Neumann in a non-conference game at 7 p.m. in the Long Center.
