Junior guard Bridgette Mann (Canadensis, Pa./Wallenpaupack) played arguably the best three-game stretch of an already impressive career last week, which included earning MVP honors in the Hilton Scranton Poinsettia Classic. As a result, she has been named Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week for women's basketball.
In three victories, Mann averaged 20.7 points, 4.0 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.0 steals. She went 12-for-25 (48 percent) from 3-point range and capped her week with a career-high 26 points in a 65-60 overtime victory against 17th-ranked Messiah on Saturday.
Mann began the week by scoring Scranton's final nine points in a 67-63 road victory at York (Pa.) on Wednesday, Dec. 13. Mann's scoring streak started with less than two minutes to play and turned a one-point deficit into a road victory. She finished with a team-high 19 points, five assists, three rebounds and a steal.
On Friday, Dec. 15, Mann scored 17 points and had five assists in an 81-48 win over Hartwick in the opening round of the Hilton Scranton Poinsettia Classic.
A day later, Mann earned MVP honors in the tournament by pouring in those 26 points and adding seven rebounds, two assists and a steal in the win over Messiah. She scored four points in overtime after scoring the Lady Royals' final five points of regulation.
On the season, Mann is averaging 15.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists while shooting 44.3 percent from 3-point range.
Mann and the Lady Royals are back in action this afternoon when they host Lebanon Valley at 3 p.m. in the Long Center.
