Makenzie Mason (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) continued her strong sophomore season with a pair of outstanding performances last week to lead The University of Scranton to a pair of key Landmark Conference victories on the road.  For her performance, she has been honored as the Landmark Conference Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week.

Mason averaged 11.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game in wins at Drew and Elizabethtown as the Lady Royals improved to 18-1 (7-1 Landmark) while pushing their winning streak to 13 games.  Scranton also moved into sole possession of first place in the conference standings as the Lady Royals shoot for home court advantage throughout the Landmark playoffs.

In a 64-51 victory at Drew on Wednesday night, Mason netted 10 points and tied for the team-lead with eight rebounds while also blocking two shots and collecting a pair of steals in the win over the Rangers.

On Saturday at Elizabethtown, Mason tied for a game-high with 13 points including the game-winning layup with just 0.6 seconds left in regulation to give the Lady Royals a thrilling triumph over the Blue Jays.  Mason also corralled three boards and blocked another shot in the important conference win.

For the season, Mason is averaging 9.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game, each of which rank second on the team. She is shooting 55.1 percent from the field and 85.0 percent from the free throw line while contributing 15 steals and 13 blocks.

Mason and the Lady Royals will look to make it 14-straight win on Wednesday when they travel to Moravian College for a Landmark Conference tilt starting at 7:00 p.m.
