The University of Scranton women's basketball team will host the sectional rounds of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Friday and Saturday in the Long Center.
It will be an impressive group of teams coming to the Long Center, as No. 8 Tufts faces No. 15 Messiah in Friday's first game at 5 p.m. The second game features No. 5 Bowdoin against the No. 10 Lady Royals at 7 p.m. The winners will meet Saturday at 6 p.m. in the Long Center with a trip to the Final Four on the line.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for students & children (ages 2 & up) and seniors over the age of 61. Children under the age of two will be admitted at no charge. Tickets will only be sold at the gate on both Friday and Saturday as there will be no advanced ticket sales.
This marks the second time in the past three seasons that Scranton has hosted the sectional rounds. In 2016, the Lady Royals defeated Christopher Newport, 82-46, in the first game before falling to Tufts, 57-48, in the sectional final.
This is also Scranton's fourth trip to the Sweet 16 in the past five years. In 2014, the Lady Royals lost a Sweet 16 game to Montclair State at FDU-Florham. After the Elite Eight lost to Tufts in 2016, Scranton also faced the Jumbos in the Sweet 16 last season, falling in a game played at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo.
