Mann Named Honorable Mention All-American By WBCA
Bridgette Mann

Junior guard Bridgette Mann (Canadensis, Pa./Wallenpaupack) of The University of Scranton women's basketball team has been collecting awards right and left since helping the Lady Royals win the Landmark Conference title and reach the Sweet 16. Now she can add one of the most prestigious honors to her resumé – All-American.

Mann was named Honorable Mention All-American by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association on Thursday night, highlighting a season in which she was named Landmark Conference Player of the Year and Mid-Atlantic Region Player of the Year.

Mann averaged 15.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists while shooting 38.8 percent from 3-point range this season. Her 71 made 3-pointers and 181 3-point attempts are both single-season team records and her 86.0 free throw percentage is the second-best in Lady Royals history.

In 30 games this season, Mann made at least one 3-pointer 28 times, including each of the first 25 games of the season. She scored in double-digits 26 times, including 20 or more on seven occasions. She had 30 or more twice, including a career-high 34 in a 65-52 win over Drew in the Long Center on Feb. 8, which is tied for seventh-most by a Lady Royal in a single game.

Mann reached the 1,000-point milestone earlier this season and currently has 1,213 career points, 18th in Lady Royals history. Her 180 career 3-pointers are two shy of breaking the program record of 181, set by Kate Pierangeli (2000-04). Her 485 attempts from beyond the arc are third-most in program history.

Behind Mann's strong play, Scranton went 28-2 this season, winning its third straight Landmark Conference title and sixth in 11 seasons. The Lady Royals entered the NCAA Division III Tournament ranked 10th in the Top 25 and seventh in the WBCA coaches' poll. Final polls will be released after this weekend's Final Four.

Mann becomes the 22nd player in Scranton women's basketball history to earn All-American honor, and the fourth in the past four seasons.
