Senior guard Lily Warhaftig (Harlem, N.Y./Poly Prep) of The University of Scranton women's basketball team was named Scranton Athlete of the Week for the period ending Dec. 8, 2019, on Monday.
This marks the first career Scranton athlete of the week honor for Warhaftig.
Warhaftig helped lead the No. 3 Lady Royals to a 2-0 week including a 59-48 victory at No. 8/9 DeSales on Tuesday. The Harlem, N.Y., native tallied six points to go along with a career-high seven rebounds and a career-best eight assists in the win over DeSales. Scranton closed out the week with a 69-35 victory over Goucher in the Landmark Conference opener for both teams on Saturday.
On the season, the senior guard is averaging 3.6 points per game, 3.9 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.
The University of Scranton women's basketball team will return to action when they host Elmira in the opening round of Hilton Scranton Poinsettia Classic on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 5 p.m.
