Freshman guard Bridget Monaghan (Florham Park, N.J./Morristown-Beard) of The University of Scranton women's basketball team was named Scranton Athlete of the Week for the period ending Jan. 26, 2020 on Monday.
Monaghan averaged 13.0 points per game and shot 47.1% from the floor as she helped lead the Lady Royals to a 2-0 week. The Florham Park, N.J., native scored a career-high 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting in a 59-46 win over Susquehanna on Wednesday and added five rebounds in the win. Monaghan helped lead a second half charge and scored 11 points in Saturday's 73-51 win versus Juniata.
On the season, Monaghan is averaging 8.7 points per game to go along with 3.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. She is shooting at a 43.2% clip from the floor and has connected on 28-of-32 (87.5%) from the free throw line.
The No. 15 Lady Royals host Drew in Landmark Conference action on Wednesday, Jan. 29 with tip-off slated for 7 p.m.
