Senior Makenzie Mason (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) averaged 19.5 points per game in two games last week and led the Lady Royals to a 2-0 week that included a 65-52 win over first place Catholic. For her efforts, Mason has been named Scranton Athlete of the Week for the period ending Feb. 9, 2020 on Monday.
Mason started the week by hitting a layup with one second left to lift the Lady Royals past Susquehanna in a 62-61 win. The Doylestown, Pa., native scored 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting in that contest and tallied 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting as Scranton pulled into a tie for first place in the Landmark Conference standings with the afore-mentioned 65-52 win over Catholic on Saturday.
The Lady Royals have won six straight and sit in a tie with Catholic for first place with four regular season games remaining.
For the week, Mason averaged 19.5 points on 66.7% shooting (16-of-24) and 6.0 rebounds per game.
On the season, Mason leads the team at 13.4 points per game.
The No. 14 University of Scranton women's basketball team will host Moravian in a Landmark Conference tilt on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m.
