Senior Makenzie Mason (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) has added another honor to her storied career with The University of Scranton women's basketball team as the Doylestown, Pa., native has been named to the D3hoops.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region First Team that was released on Tuesday morning.
This marks the second straight year that Mason has earned All-Mid-Atlantic Region First Team honors and comes on the heels of the guard being named Landmark Conference Player of the Year for the second consecutive year. Mason was also named to the All-Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team in 2017-18.
Joining Mason on the first team were Anna-Sophia Capizzi (Haverford), Leah Springer (Messiah), Dejah Terrell (Albright) and Katie Garrish (Southern Virginia).
Mason led the Lady Royals in scoring (14.0 points per game) and rebounding (7.0 rebounds per game) en route to a 24-4 season and the program's fifth straight Landmark Conference Championship. The senior was named Landmark Conference Tournament MVP after recording double-doubles in both games of the tournament including a 21 point, 12 rebound performance in the 63-42 title game victory over Catholic.
A 1,000 point career scorer for Scranton, Mason scored double-digit points in 11 straight games entering the NCAA Tournament and averaged 16.1 points per game while shooting 54.4% from the field during that stretch. She became the 30th player in program history to score 1,000 career points in a 59-46 win over Susquehanna on Jan. 22 and finished with 1,189 career points, which ranks 18th all-time in program history. As a whole, Mason scored in double figures 24 times on the season and topped the 20-point plateau on four occasions.
