Royals Rewind: The 2020 Landmark Conference Women's Basketball Championship Game

Throughout the month of July and into early August, we will look back on some of the best moments of the 2019-20 season for The University of Scranton Department of Athletics in a series entitled "Royals Rewind". Our fourth moment - the women's basketball team's dominating 63-42 win over Catholic in the 2020 Landmark Conference championship game.

The University of Scranton women's basketball team entered the 2019-20 season as overwhelming favorites to win the Landmark Conference.

Returning four of five starters, first-year head coach Nick DiPillo guided the Lady Royals successfully through the season, despite the fact that they dropped a pair of Landmark Conference games throughout the course of the year.

Entering the Landmark Conference playoffs as the number one seed, Scranton hosted Catholic on Feb. 29 in search of their fifth straight Landmark crown, and thanks to opportunistic offense and a dominating defensive effort, the Lady Royals reached the conference mountaintop once again in a convincing 63-42 victory.

Late last week, now graduate Makenzie Mason (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West), along with rising junior Emily Shurina (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) and sophomore Bridget Monaghan (Florham Park, N.J./Morristown-Beard) joined SID John Gatto to discuss the title game win and watch some highlights from the game.
