MOUNT COBB, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's golf team posted a pair of 4-1 victories on Saturday, defeating both Marywood and Misericordia, in a tri-match at Scranton Municipal Golf Course.
The Royals (5-0) needed some heroics to defeat Marywood, which was their first victory over the Pacers since Scranton added women's golf beginning in the fall of 2016. Junior Brianna Stein (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) got up-and-down for par on the par-4 18th hole to win the no. 1 match, 1-up. And freshman Emma Nemitz (Moscow, Pa./North Pocono) knocked her tee shot to a foot on the par-3 17th hole for a tap-in birdie to win her match at no. 2, 2 & 1.
Scranton also received a 6 & 4 win at no. 4 from senior Maggie McDonough (Dunmore, Pa./Holy Cross) and a 9 & 7 win from freshman Molly Lennon (Melville, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills East) at no. 5 to complete the victory over Marywood.
