BRANCHBURG, N.J. – Freshman Emma Nemitz (Moscow, Pa./North Pocono) finished second overall to lead The University of Scranton women's golf team at the Landmark Conference Fall Invitational on Saturday at Fox Hollow Golf Club.
Nemitz carded an 87 on the par-72, 5,862-yard layout, five strokes behind medalist Cathy Bi of Drew University. She helped Scranton finish third with a four-player total of 390. Drew won the team crown with a total of 356 with Catholic 13 shots behind in second.
Freshman Molly Lennon (Melville, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills East) finished in a tie for 14th with a 94 for Scranton. Junior Brianna Stein (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) carded a 103 to tie for 20th, and senior Maggie McDonough (Dunmore, Pa./Holy Cross) rounded out the team's top four with a 106 in the Royals' first stroke-play event of the season.
The women's golf team will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 2, when the Royals host Marywood in a dual match at 1 p.m. at Glenmaura National Golf Club in Moosic, Pa.
