Women’s Golf Upends Wilkes, Keystone in Pair of Matches at Huntsville

DALLAS, Pa. - The University of Scranton women's golf team knocked off both Wilkes (3.5-1.5) and Keystone (2-0) in a pair of matches held at Huntsville Golf Club on Thursday afternoon.

With the pair of victories, the Royals moved to 12-2 overall in matches for the season.

In the Wilkes match, Scranton notched a 3 ½-1 ½ victory over the Colonels.

Winning their matches on the day for the Royals included freshman Emma Nemitz (Moscow, Pa./North Pocono), who collected a dominating 9 & 8 win, while senior Maura McDonough (Dunmore, Pa./Holy Cross) edged her opponent from Wilkes, 2 & 1.

Maggie McDonough (Dunmore, Pa./Holy Cross) meanwhile, earned a half-point for Scranton after evening up her match, while freshman Gabriele Hanstein (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) rolled to a 6 & 5 win to finish off the victory over Wilkes for Scranton.

Against Keystone, the Royals collected a pair of 1-up victories, as Hanstein and junior Brianna Stein (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) were victorious in their matches against the Giants.

The University of Scranton women's golf team returns to action on Monday, as they host both Misericordia and Keystone at Glenmaura Country Club. The event is set to start at 1:30 p.m.
