Freshman Emma Nemitz (Moscow, Pa./North Pocono) of The University of Scranton women's golf team led the Royals at this past weekend's Landmark Conference Championships, finishing in a tie for 12th place.  For her efforts, she has been named The University of Scranton Athlete of the Week.

Nemitz recorded a two-day score of 193 to finish tied for a 12th out of 40 golfers in the championship tournament which was played on the par 72, 5,866-yard course at the Fox Hollow Golf Club in Branchburg, N.J.

After shooting a 101 in Saturday's opening round which placed her in a tie for 14th, Nemitz came back with a strong effort in Sunday's final round, carding a team-leading score of 92.  After improving by nine strokes on Sunday, she climbed up to a tie for 12th place finish at the conclusion of the 36-hole competition.

Nemitz finished her first collegiate season with a 91.4 scoring average, the top mark on the Royals during the 2018-19 campaign.  She posted her low round of the season, 83, in a dual match win over Misericordia on April 22.  Nemitz also went a perfect 6-0 in match play competition this season.

Scranton, which finished sixth out of eight teams at the Landmark Conference Championships, closed out the 2018-19 season with a 13-2 record in dual matches, the Royals best mark in the program's three-year history.
